Meet The Teacher: Dawn Feeney, Timber Creek High School

This post is one in a series of “Meet the Teacher” blogs celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4-8, 2020. The teachers featured in this series are K-12 educators across Central Florida who also serve as the Campus Advisor for their school’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon. In addition to their responsibilities as K-12 teachers, they guide Dance Marathon students through a year of raising funds and awareness for Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, encouraging and challenging them as leaders, and instilling in them a sense of philanthropy.

Meet The Teacher: Dawn Feeney

Teaches: SGA Leadership Classes- 9th-12th grades

Has been teaching for: 30 years

Favorite part about teaching: The kids! Watching them grow and develop is an amazing experince.

Being “FTK” means to me: For me it is trying to make a difference in the lives of the kids and their families. To provide resources and help at their time of need, putting others first like my dad taught me. Working with my Dance Marathon kids is watching them become passionate about a cause, passionate about helping others and then going out and doing it, making a difference. It’s amazing to watch them grown in the cause. See the world for others instead of themselves.

Favorite part about Dance Marathon: So hard to pick, but honestly it is seeing the kids work hard for something and somebody else. I love the reveal and watching them see the impact they made in our community. I also love hearing of the success stories from families.
