The 2024 Orlando Torch Relay for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
It was an incredible afternoon on Thursday, November 22nd at the Orlando World Center Marriott as teams and community members came to together for the annual Orlando Torch Relay for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in support of Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
The commitment from team captains and participants started months ago, as they rallied their friends, colleagues, and business partners for support, and hosted a variety of fundraising activities leading up to the event. More than 400 participants representing teams from Marriott and Marriott Vacation Club properties across Central Florida enjoyed the route around the beautiful course at Hawk’s Landing Golf Club in weather that couldn’t have been more perfect. We even had two special guests, Orlando Health’s mascot, Scrubs, and Torch Relay’s mascot, Myles, join in on the fun and cheer on the teams!
Gathering after the walk, the amazing culinary teams from Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center, JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes, JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa, Orlando World Center Marriott, Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld, Sheraton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, The Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort brought their skills and competed for the best BBQ of the afternoon.
It was a tight competition, but the culinary teams from Grande Lakes brought home the winning title for this year’s best BBQ in both the chicken and pork categories. Congratulations and a big thank you to all the exceptional culinary teams that treated everyone to world-class BBQ and treats!
