The 2023 Orlando Torch Relay for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
On the afternoon of Thursday, November 2nd over 300 participants from Marriott Hotels, Marriott Vacations Worldwide and community members of all ages gathered at the beautiful Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld to participate in this year’s Orlando Torch Relay for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in support of Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
The afternoon event kicked-off as the Lugo family shared their personal story on how their journey with their son JP, our 2023 CMN Hospitals Champion for Orlando Health Arnold Palmer, has been impacted through the care he continues to receive at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer. It was a meaningful afternoon as JP got everyone excited and counted down the start of the run and walk. Participants also had the opportunity to meet additional patient families along the route as they cheered them on and thanked them for making a difference in the lives of families like theirs. Families and volunteers brought the energy and cheered big to keep everyone going!
After the participants crossed the finish line, everyone indulged in the delicious BBQ competition from culinary teams from Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center, JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek, JW Marriott Grande Lakes Orlando, Orlando World Center Marriott, Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld, The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, and Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort that competed for the best pork and chicken of the evening. After the votes were tallied, the culinary team from Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld took the winning title for both chicken and pork of the night.
