RE/MAX Agents Create Miracles for Local Kids During Month of Miracles

Each August, REMAX agents and offices across the country come together for Month of Miracles, a special time to celebrate the power of community, generosity, and purpose.

Here at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, we’ve been deeply moved by the way our local REMAX partners continue to show up this year. Whether through donations, storytelling, or fundraising events, agents continue to create real and lasting impact for the kids and families we serve. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the many agents that continue to partner in our mission and make a difference for kids like Phoenix.

Born at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, Phoenix spent her first 52 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) due to low oxygen levels. As first-time parents, Janiccia and Samuel were overwhelmed with emotions from not being able to take their daughter immediately home, while also learning the complexities of caring for a child with unique health needs.

The NICU nursing team became a vital source of strength, providing expert care and emotional support. They set goals for Phoenix that allowed her to go home just before the holidays – something no one expected.

However, after a short time at home, respiratory issues brought Phoenix back to the hospital. She was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children where she underwent a tracheostomy on Valentine’s Day – a reminder for Janiccia of the delicate balance between love and medical necessity. For 54 days, Phoenix grew stronger in the PICU, and deep bonds between the family and specialized care teams were formed.

Phoenix was eventually diagnosed with Aicardi Syndrome, a rare condition affecting brain development and often accompanied by other challenges. Despite losing her voice, Phoenix has found other ways to communicate, her personality shining through gestures and expressions.

Today, Phoenix continues receiving therapies, opening doors to a fuller life. She is a “spa baby” who loves bath time and heated pools. Her family remains grateful for her compassionate and supportive care team who have become their second family.
