Marriott Vacations Worldwide Gives Back to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children

Each year in May, Marriott Vacations Worldwide host’s its annual Serve day, a highlight of Associate Appreciation Week and a celebration of the company’s year-round commitment to volunteerism. Associates across the company embrace the company’s “Spirit to Serve” by spending a day serving and giving back to the local communities in which they live and work. This year, Marriott Vacations Worldwide’s annual Serve day took place on May 24th and a team of volunteers from the corporate office spent the morning volunteering and giving back at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

The Hubbard House

The Hubbard House is a place of refuge and comfort for families who are undergoing extended periods of treatment at one of our hospital facilities. Whether undergoing a surgery, needing recovery, or patients who need consistent treatment and don’t live within the Central Florida area, the Hubbard House serves as a home away from home for hundreds of families each year.

On average, the Hubbard House houses 50 families at a time, and with the help of volunteers from across Central Florida it receives incredible care. Whether it is food donations, bottled water, toiletries, or volunteering time, The Hubbard House relies heavily on support from the local community to keep the home in great condition and to serve those families in need. Our friends with Marriott Vacations Worldwide helped prepare meals, cleaned each floor of the house, and helped tidy up the laundry room during their annual Serve Day. Whether it was vacuuming the three floors of the house, or washing the windows, these volunteers made an incredible difference for the staff and families impacted by The Hubbard House.

Volunteer Services & Child Life

Associates from Marriott Vacations Worldwide started their morning by learning more about how volunteer services impacts the families who are cared for at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer. The team stayed busy organizing the clothing pantry, making candy grams, cleaning the play rooms and organizing craft materials for child life, as well as serving coffee and muffins to families and hospital team members.

Mobile Intensive Care Units

Associates also spent the morning washing and detailing the Mobile Intensive Care Units making them spick and span inside and out!

Together, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies have five Mobile ICU’s, all of which have been purchased by funds raised through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ corporate partners and programs. Our pediatric acute and critical care transport teams offer highly-specialized services to critically ill children and babies in our community at referring hospitals in 18 counties around Central Florida – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This past year alone nearly 2,500 children were transported in these special vehicles.

From washing and detailing the Mobile Intensive Care Units; to making candy grams, organizing the clothing pantry cleaning the playrooms; making meals and tidying up The Hubbard House, no task was too big or too small for this team. Thank you Marriott Vacations Worldwide for giving your time and talents to help make our hospital more comfortable for our patients and their families, while our hospital is their home.
