Windermere Preparatory School Celebrates 8th Annual Miracle Jeans Day

This year, Windermere Preparatory School (WPS)  in Windermere, Florida celebrated their annual Miracle Jeans Day in support of Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children on September 27th. Over the last 7 years, WPS has raised over $22,000 and was eager to make 2017 their biggest year yet!

With the help of WPS Teacher Kimberly Souza, a group of dedicated high school students formed a committee to help plan and spread the word about Miracle Jeans Day, hoping to involve the whole campus. They made posters and hung them all around school, they created a video that played in all of the homeroom classes and even sent out a newsletter to all of the families. Their Miracle Jeans Day event was a huge success and their highest fundraising year to date!

So, how much did they raise?!

$5,124.69 – a more than 55% increase compared to their 2016 efforts, bringing their overall support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to $27,589.67!

This year, the students wanted to dedicate their efforts in celebration of the life and legacy of Cameron Robert Tappan. Cameron’s mom, Jillian, is a kindergarten teacher at WPS, and his dad Chris was a past member of the school’s coaching staff.

“Cameron Robert Tappan was born on June 13, 2017 with a very severe form of aortic stenosis.  The doctors, nurses, and caretakers at Winnie Palmer and Arnold Palmer were very supportive and did everything they could to help Cameron.  In the end, his diagnosis was too severe and he passed away on June 27 at exactly two weeks old.  Chris and I will always be grateful for the care that the doctors and nurses showed, not just for Cameron, but for us as well.  Cameron is forever in our hearts and he will always be our first born.  He made us a mommy and daddy and we will always love him.”  –Jillian Tappan

Thank you WPS for your continued support of Children’s Miracle Network at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and your commitment to making miracles possible for local kids. We are honored to celebrate the life of Cameron with you.
