Meet The Teacher: Christi Head, Melbourne Central Catholic High School

This post is one in a series of “Meet the Teacher” blogs celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4-8, 2020. The teachers featured in this series are K-12 educators across Central Florida who also serve as the Campus Advisor for their school’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon. In addition to their responsibilities as K-12 teachers, they guide Dance Marathon students through a year of raising funds and awareness for Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, encouraging and challenging them as leaders, and instilling in them a sense of philanthropy.

Meet The Teacher: Christi Head

Teaches: 9th-12th grade Science

Has been teaching for: 20 years

Favorite part about teaching: My students! I love learning about them, their story, their dreams. Seeing them grow, face challenges, experience joys.

Being “FTK” means to me: Our students work tirelessly and with such enthusiasm to find new ways to be FTK! They are such an inspiration to want to be a part of DM and support them. The children that Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, and the Alexander Center for Neonataology at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies supports deserve our help in whatever way we can. We do need to fight and help those who can’t. To let them know there are people out there who are there for them and rooting for them!

Favorite part of Dance Marathon: Seeing all the hard work my students put into making it happen. Seeing how it pays off at our final event and all the fun that can be had as we raise money and stand FTK.
